輪切りの牛の親子のホルマリン漬け-ターナー賞の歩み展-でご紹介したターナー賞、圧倒的な表現で世界を圧巻したダミアン・ハースト、嗚呼･･･チャールズ・サーチよ買ってくれのチャールズ･サーチなど個人的に何かと気になるアーティスト・表現・文化なんかを改めて見つめなおしてみると、｢イギリス｣に帰結することが度々。

それは音楽でも例外ではなく（The Beatles,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple,Sex Pistolsなどあげればきりがない）、私の中で最も尊敬すべき音楽バンドのひとつであるPlacebo(プラシーボ)もUKを本拠地として活動してる。(いや、正確には私の中では世界最高のバンドであります。)
なぜ｢イギリス｣なのか？
これはまた別の機会に考察してみようと思います。
ちょっと時間かけないと言葉にするのが難しいですので。。
（日本で言うところのイギリスって呼称自体に色々とあいまいなところがありますしね。政治的に正しくないとされていたり･･･、イギリス＝イングランド、スコットランド、ウェールズ、北アイルランドから構成されている王国）
そんなPlaceboが先月6月に久々にニューアルバム”Battle for the Sun
“Battle for the sun“の収録曲ではないのですが、Pink Floyd(ピンク・フロイド)のDavid Gilmour(デヴィッド・ギルモア)に見出されレコードデビューに至ったKate Bush(ケイト・ブッシュ)の”Running up that hill”のカバーが何とも秀逸で、もはや本家を軽々と超越して新たな曲として評価できるものになってます。（ちなみにKate BushもPink Floydもイギリス出身）
